MinYoung's Kpop Picks

So it's been a while since I've posted anything music related, and a lot of stuff has come out in the K-pop that I like. (I will do a post for J-rock next) And, just so you know my Korean name is Minyoung, so that my blog post isn't so out of left field lol. So, without further ado:

Recent K-pop Picks:

SHINee- Everybody

I will admit I was a bit of a bad Shawol, and didn't keep up with their latest promotions like I have in the past ( I didn't watch the teasers and MV right away) as I've been super busy (see my past two blogs), but when I did~ I FREAKING LOVED IT! *ahem* It's so high energy and fun, the guys look great! A wild Tae-man appears, Minho is charismatic as always, Onew and Jonghyun are blonde, while Key goes back to dark hair! It's great!

Kahi- It's Me

The fierce and sexy Kahi is back. After her graduation from After School it felt like I was waiting forever and ever for her comeback after a slew of other Pledis comebacks. (Still waiting for a Son Dam Bi comeback). Anywho. I love this comeback concept of a strong, powerful lady which suits Kahi super well, from the clothes to the dance.

Kara- Damaged Lady

Despite the controversies surrounding the long time girl group right now, this song still managed to nudge itself into my cranium. Kara hwaiting!

EXO- Growl

So what it's been two months, this song along with B2ST's "Shadow" and U-KISS's "Standing Still" are still stuck in my head and groove worthy, no matter when they're played.

GD- Coup D'etat

Oh my gosh this video! I love it. Visually stunning really, and seemingly high on symbolism. I wish I lived in Cali so I could of gone to K-Con. The collab with Missy Elliot (mind blown). Also, fellow Big Bang member Seung Ri's album was really good~

And last, but certainly not least~

Block B- Very Good

I am soooooo glad these guys are back. After that horrendous case with their company, and the band being littered with controversies since their debut, I am just glad they came out strong. Block B let their crazy out in this vid. I love the video, the song, and the guys look great. Zico's a bit of a fashionista here isn't he? Haha. I'm very very good~

Crazy Hectic! D20 and Cons! Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of my blog post! If you haven't read part one (shame on you haha), click here
If you're up to speed, continue on~

So this is where I will be talking about the big event that is less than three weeks away, Monitacon!

Here's an example of the flyers we've been distributing for the event, also used as the display picture for the official facebook page. (Check out the official website for complete information here)

This con has been gaining crazy momentum and, in my opinion, will prove to be a  very promising event, due to the tireless efforts of the director and co-director, two of my fellow D20 Girls and good friends, Candy Goblin and Ryushinikaru!

They've both been to their fair share of conventions, learning the ins and outs, and decided it was high time to make their mark with one here in Jacksonville,NC! So for anyone in the area who has been wanting to go to conventions, but couldn't due to dilemmas such as distance, look no further!

This convention may be just one day, but with all the panels, artists and vendors, tournaments, and special guests, I'm predicting it to be one jam packed day full of fun for all ages to enjoy!

What's most exciting for me is that I for the very first time will be running a panel. The panel titled, A Step Into Asian Pop Culture, I have planned to be full of just that! From hosting a fashion show showcasing J-rock and K-pop inspired clothing, to mini games  (such as the Cutie Player) and an epic dance battle for prizes!

I am thrilled to be putting this together. I will admit it is quite a bit of stress with certain aspects  ( I can only imagine what Candy Goblin and Ryushinikaru must be going through trying to mold together a whole convention!), but none the less I am determined to make this work, as it's something I've wanted to do for quite some time now, just never had the guts or means to do it! I hope those that attend the panel feel that I am trying my best to bring to them my interests^^.

I am grateful to the friends who have volunteered to be models for my panel and helping in any way they can!

I recently received good news that a very talented artist is on board for helping me out with accessories for the J-rock portion of my fashion show! So excited and thankful to Necrosarium!

If you're attending, look forward to the D20 Girls volunteering and for the maid cafe and cosplay contest! I have my fingers crossed for an amazing event!~

Crazy Hectic! D20 and Cons! Part 1

Hey guys! Sorry for my long hiatus. Various things have come about and I will catch everyone up on it here. This may be a 2 part blog~

So for the majority of the time, since my last post, I've been doing school, teaching Korean and Japanese penpals English, volunteering at Escapist Expo , knocking out one more Animania event at Jacksonville Mall Suncoast with some of the D20 Girls, and being a panelist. For what you ask? A first year local convention, Monitacon!

If you don't know what the D20 Girls are, we're basically a nonprofit organization that stands to squash the negative images of girls in the gaming/nerd/geek fan-doms and industries. We go to several conventions as either panelists, volunteers (registration, badge check, running cosplay contests, working booths, etc), we try and do our parts in the community and raising awareness for charitable events and we are a force to be reckoned with!

D20 Girls at Escapist Expo
I attended Escapist Expo (Oct 4-6) as a D20 volunteer and met with some interesting and cool people at the registration area. I had the fortune of meeting quite a few of the D20 girls I hadn't crossed paths with before, and got to see some I hadn't seen since earlier in the year. Such awesome girls. And, they looked astounding in their Apocalyptic Disney cosplay, which the girls were sporting during the Cosplay Contest we ran (which was streamed live). There's a lot of footage of the D20 Girls at Escapist Expo floating around~ Woohoo!

So, fast forward to October 13th, and we have another Animania Event at Suncoast! That certainly crept up quite quickly!

This time we also had quite the pleasant turnout, and people came out in some pretty wicked cosplays! Check out the full album on Facebook: here
Thanks to everyone who came!
